COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Tyler Fenner of Sweet Springs won the Missouri FFA Grain Production Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.

Fenner, a senior at Sweet Springs High School, is the son of Kristen and Tom Fenner. His advisors are Kristen Fenner and Brent Niemeyer.

Fenner’s supervised agricultural experience program consists of producing and effectively marketing corn for grain products. Fenner sold a portion of his corn crop to Mid Missouri Energy for ethanol production. 

As an FFA member, Fenner has held three chapter officer positions including Treasurer, Sentinel and Jr. Advisor

In addition to FFA, Fenner is a student member of the Missouri Corn Growers Association. He also participates in high school sports including football, basketball, baseball and archery.

Schreiner’s future plans include attending Grand River Technical School to pursue a certification in diesel technology.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Grain production is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Corn Growers Association sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
