COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Dylan Yarbrough of Ozark won the Missouri FFA Forest Management Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.
Yarbrough, a junior at Ozark High School, is the son of Melanie Yarbrough. He is a member of the Ozark FFA Chapter. His advisors are Heath Wright, Jeremy Sisco, and Travis Phipps.
Yarbrough’s supervised agricultural experience program involves cutting and maintaining farm land resources to create firewood. His responsibilities include finding easily processed limbs or other trees to then make firewood bundles.
As an FFA member, Yarbrough has competed in multiple career development events and leadership development events. In addition to FFA, Yarbrough is a member of Missouri Cattleman and the Fox Trotter Association.
After graduating high school, Yarbrough’s plans include studying agriculture education at College of the Ozarks. He hopes to one day teach the importance of farm and land management through his classes.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Forest Management is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Forest and Woodland Association of Missouri sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
