Graham named state winner in diversified livestock production proficiency award area

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Gavin Graham of Fredericktown won the Missouri FFA Diversified Livestock Production Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. 

Graham, a senior at Fredericktown High School, is the son of Michael and Kendra Graham. He is a member of the Fredericktown FFA Chapter. His FFA advisors are Michael Graham, Laura Bittle and Rusty Allgier. 

Graham’s supervised agricultural experience consists of animal agriculture including beef cattle, swine and poultry. He owns a cow/calf operation, a flock of Golden Comet egg laying hens and a swine operation that produces show and feeder pigs. 

As an FFA member, Graham has competed in the state agricultural mechanics career development event and the Farm Bureau speaking contest. 

In addition to FFA, Graham is a member of the National Junior Angus Association. He is also a member of the National Antique Tractor Puller Association. 

After high school, Graham plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia to study animal science. 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Diversified livestock production is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Area 2 Agriculture Teachers Association sponsored the award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
