COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Samuel Linlee Jordan of Savannah, Missouri, won the Missouri FFA Beef Production Placement Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. 

Jordan, a senior at Savannah R-III High School, is the son of Matt and Monica Jordan. He is a member of the Savannah FFA Chapter. His advisors are Jeff Baumann, Jessica Aeschliman, Joe Meade, and Mikaila Livingston.

Jordan’s supervised agricultural experience program involves employment at Rodgers Livestock and Ward Brother’s Livestock. His responsibilities include feeding cattle, monitoring herd health, and helping prepare cattle for sale.

As an FFA member, Jordan has participated in Missouri Agribusiness Academy and multiple national livestock shows.  In addition to FFA, Jordan is  a member of the Kodiak Kadettes 4-H club, the Missouri Junior Cattlemen’s Association and the Missouri Junior Angus Association.

After graduating high school, Jordan plans to attend a junior college to study livestock and animal nutrition. He then plans to transfer to a four-year university to study animal science. 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Beef Production Placement is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Beef Industry Council sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
