COLUMBIA, Mo., April 17, 2024 – Jacob McElhaney of Atlanta won the Missouri FFA Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Placement Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.
McElhaney, a freshman at State Technical College of Missouri, is the son of Jeff and Linda Wehner. He is a member of the Atlanta FFA Chapter. His advisor is Jessy Reuterdahl.
McElhaney’s supervised agricultural experience program involves employment at Sydenstricker-Nobbe Partners and Wehner Farms. His responsibilities include repairing tractors and other agricultural equipment.
As an FFA member, McElhaney served as a Missouri FFA Convention delegate and courtesy corp member. In addition to FFA, McElhaney is a member of Mt. Tabor Church and was a member of the National Honor Society.
After graduating with his associate’s degree, McElhaney plans to continue working full-time at Sydenstricker-Nobbe Partners in Macon, Missouri.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Placement is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Heritage Tractor sponsored this award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
