Carpenter named state winner in agricultural processing proficiency award area

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – Zachary Allen Carpenter of Urich won the Missouri FFA Agricultural Processing Proficiency Award at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.
Carpenter, a senior of Ballard R-II High School, is the son of Matthew Carpenter and Jillian Holteen. He is a member of the Ballard FFA Chapter. His advisor is Kyleigh Trickey.
Carpenter’s supervised agricultural experience program includes meat processing and production at Yoss Thriftway in Adrian, Missouri. He is responsible for cutting and packaging meat products and stocking shelves.
As an FFA member, Carpenter has exhibited at the district and state level and participated in National Day of Service at National FFA Convention. In addition to FFA, Carpenter is part of the varsity basketball team and the track team.
Carpenter’s future plans include obtaining higher education to become a soil scientist with the United States Department of Agriculture- Natural Resource Conservation Service.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Processing is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Agribusiness Association sponsored the award.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
