Audrain County R-VI FFA Nursery/Landscaping team wins state competition

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – The Audrain County R-VI FFA Chapter won the nursery/landscaping career development event at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 50 teams in the competition.

Team members include Olivia Schafer, Dylan Hoyt, Kate Robnett, and Lydia Hoyt. Out of 182 participants, Schafer placed first, D. Hoyt placed third, Robnett placed eighth, and L. Hoyt placed 10th. The Audrain County R-VI FFA advisor is Stacy French.

STIHL Outdoor Power Equipment awards scholarships to the top four individuals in the nursery/landscaping CDE.

Individuals in this event are scored on their knowledge of production, marketing, utilization, and culture of landscape plants. Students apply the information they learn in their horticulture and landscape design classes.

Sponsored by STIHL Outdoor Power Equipment, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
