Gallatin FFA forestry team wins state competition

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2024 – The Gallatin FFA Chapter won the forestry career development event at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 44 teams in the competition.

Team members include Abigail Burns, Emma Christopher, Anasen Wayne and Betty Rogers. Out of 167 participants, Burns placed second, Christopher Placed fourth, Wayne placed ninth and Rogers placed 39th. The Gallatin FFA advisors are Brant Burns and Amy Holder.

The forestry CDE tests the diversity of FFA members’ knowledge of the forestry industry. Students must be proficient in tree equipment identification, forest management, forestry applications and also take a general knowledge exam.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
