COLUMBIA, Mo., April 18, 2023 – The Ava FFA Chapter was recognized for winning the environmental science and natural resources management career development event, held on October 19, 2023, at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention.
Team members include Jonathan Mullican, Erika Strong, Heston Alexander and Kenna Davis. The Ava FFA advisors are Brent Lakey and John Branstetter.
Individuals in this contest are given a scenario about environmental and natural resources in the areas of soils, water, ecosystems and waste management. At the end of an hour, the team creates a written statement and oral presentation.
Sponsored by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
