Republic FFA entomology team wins state competition

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 19, 2024 – The Republic FFA Chapter won the entomology career development event at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 48 teams in the competition.

Team members include Micah Winslow, Emma Robinson, Raegan Blandford and Avery Rossow. Out of 187 participants, Winslow placed first, Robinson placed eighth, Blandford placed 16th, and Rossow placed 88th. The Republic FFA advisors are Alec Hagan, Duane Melton and Cody Stewart.

Entomology teams take a written exam on pesticide application and safety regulations as well as identify species of insects.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
