COLUMBIA, Mo., April 19, 2024 – The North Shelby FFA Chapter won the agricultural mechanics career development event at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 45 teams in the competition.
Team members include Aden Johnston, Austin Wilson, Andi Belt, and Aliza Yoder. Out of 176 participants, Johnston placed first, Wilson placed second, Belt placed eighth and Yoder placed 10th. The North Shelby FFA advisors are Jenny Bradley, Tim Davis and Harold Eckler.
Teams in this event consist of four students who solve a multi-system agricultural problem scenario. The team works to solve the problem and prepare a report while judges evaluate. Additionally, individuals complete a written exam that covers five agricultural technology and mechanical areas: compact equipment, electricity, environment and natural resources, machinery and equipment and structures.
Sponsored by Heritage Tractor, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
