COLUMBIA, Mo., April 19, 2024 – The North Shelby FFA Chapter won the farm management career development event at the 96th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 48 teams in the competition.

Team members include Jared Johnston, Sam Schwanke, Emme Jones, and Evie Jones. Johnston placed third, Schwanke placed fourth, Emme placed seventh, and Evie placed 17th out of 182 participants. The North Shelby FFA Advisors are Harold Eckler and Jenny Bradley, and Tim Davis.

Contestants analyzed real-life business problems and completed a detailed exam to prove their understanding of economic principles. Participants used what they learned in their agricultural business classes to compete. Skills the students apply in the event will help them face even greater challenges in their professional lives.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage students in learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 26,830 members representing 362 chapters. The national organization has more than 945,000 members representing 9,163 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
