COLUMBIA, Mo., April 21, 2023 — The Missouri FFA Association recognized Breanna Thompson of the Conway FFA Chapter as the Area 10 Star in Agribusiness at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention. Her parents are Brett and Cindy Thompson of Conway. Her advisors are Mary Anne Keck and Doug Glenn.

Area Stars in Agribusiness are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 10 includes 23 chapters in the Southwest District.

American Family Insurance sponsors the 16 area Star in Agribusiness awards as well as the State Star in Agribusiness Award.

Thompson’s SAE involves owning and operating her own retail beef business. The business began in 2021 with the purpose of providing local community members with access to reasonably priced, high quality beef. She sold to more than 20 customers in her first year of business and hopes to double her customer base in this year.

Thompson has served as the Conway FFA Chapter chaplain and vice president. She has competed in the employment skills leadership development event. She was also awarded Star Chapter Greenhand, Star Chapter Farmer and Star Junior Farmer in the Conway FFA Chapter.

In addition to FFA, Thompson served as captain of the volleyball, basketball, and track teams. She is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Teachers of America, National Honor Society, and student council.

Following graduation, Thompson plans to attend Ozarks Technical Community College, Springfield, to study agriculture. She also plans to continue providing locally grown beef to local customers.

The Missouri FFA has 26,716 members representing 356 chapters. The national organization has more than 850,000 members representing 8,995 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
