Columbia FFA agronomy team places fifth in state competition

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 21, 2023 – The Columbia FFA Chapter placed fifth in the agronomy career development event at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 60 teams in the competition.
The team members include Garbriell Clifton, Lauren Martin, Grace Parsons and Sam Tummons. Clifton placed second, Martin placed 28th, Parsons placed 38th and Tummons placed 42nd out of 228 participants. The Columbia FFA advisors are Austin DeHaven, Kevin Duncan, Taylor Howell, Matthew Praiswater, Jacob Rahmer and Sherie Rodekohr.
Individuals in this contest evaluate crop production and factors that influence the quality of seed and forage crops.
Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage students in learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 26,716 members representing 356 chapters. The national organization has more than 850,000 members representing 8,995 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
