Gump of California FFA Chapter named State Star in Placement
COLUMBIA, Mo., April 22, 2022 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Holden Ralph Grisham of the Eldon FFA Chapter as the State Star in Placement at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. Gump is the son of Jeptha and Kristy Gump of California. His advisors are Gary Reichel, Gary Morris and Adam Bieri.
The State Star in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.
Gump’s SAE includes working in a welding shop where he builds and welds gates and bail rings to sell. He replaces floors and sides in cattle trailers and does custom railing jobs. Gump has taken on projects for Cargill including building stairs for buildings, feed bunks for their turkeys, and gates.
Gump has served as the California FFA Chapter sentinel and parliamentarian. He has participated in the conduct of chapter meetings and parliamentary procedure leadership development events, and the agricultural mechanics career development events. He worked on the leadership committee planning multiple events and served at the FFA Barbeque.
In addition to FFA, Gump was a member of student council, the football and basketball teams, Sounds of Joy choir, and Young Republicans Club. He was very active in school events attending multiple games as a player and alumni.
Since graduating in 2021, Dawson has attended State Technical College of Missouri, studying draft and design engineering technology. Dawson plans to work for a local company as an engineer.
The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
