Schroeder of Doniphan FFA Chapter named Area 16 Star in Placement

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 22, 2022 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Matthew Schroeder of the Doniphan FFA Chapter as the Area 16 Star in Placement at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Brian and Liz Schroeder. His advisors are Liz Schroeder and Matthew Pendergrass.

 

Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 16 includes 22 chapters in the Southeast District.

 

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.

 

Schroeder’s supervised agricultural experience consists of food processing, and community development. He works for Ozark Meats, Stoddard County Seed and Feed, and the City of Doniphan. Schroeder gained knowledge in meat processing and crop production and also cared for local spaces in his town. 

 

Schroeder has served as chapter vice president and treasurer. He has competed at the Missouri Sheep Producers FFA Speaking Contest. Schroeder has competed in Division II prepared public speaking, FFA knowledge, and parliamentary procedure leadership development events. Schroeder has participated in entomology and horse evaluation and selection career development events. He attended the Helping Youth Maximize Agricultural eXperiences Academy, Public Speaking Academy and State FFA Leadership Camp.

 

In addition to FFA, Schroeder is a member of beta club and participates in football and track. Schroeder is a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation JAKES program and assists the local chapter with their events. He is also a member of the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.

 

After graduating high school, Schroeder’s plans include attending the University of Missouri-Columbia to study geography.

The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
