COLUMBIA, Mo., April 22, 2022 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Clint Hinds of West Plains FFA Chapter as the Area 13 Star in Placement. His parents are Mark and Gail Hinds of West Plains. His advisors are Jay Hale, Tonya Jedlicka, and Sarah Elrod.

Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 13 includes 25 chapters in the South Central District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.

Hinds’ supervised agricultural experience consists of working on Hinds diversified crop and livestock farm. After four years of employment, his responsibilities on the farm have grown tremendously. Hinds currently manages cattle herds, all crop planting and harvesting, and maintenance. He has 12 purebred Angus cows and 14 feeder calves.

Hinds served as chapter vice president and secretary. He placed 5th in the Missouri Farm Bureau State speaking contest. Hinds was also the diversified agriculture proficiency winner. He has competed in livestock evaluation and agricultural mechanics career development events.

In addition to FFA, Hinds is the president of his 4-H club and a member of Missouri Farm Bureau.

After graduating high school, Hinds’ plans include attending Missouri State University-West Plains to study agriculture business. After college, he hopes to return home and continue growing the family farm.

The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
