Troy FFA soils team places third in state competition
COLUMBIA, Mo., April 22, 2022 – The Troy FFA Chapter placed third in the soils career development event at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 47 teams in the competition.
The team members include Vito Pizzurro, Raj Patel, Braden F Rhodes and Henry Henke. Pizzurro placed fourth, Patel placed 14th, Rhodes placed 52nd and Henke placed 60th out of 175 participants. The Troy FFA advisors are Rob Calvin, Elizabeth Utterback, Matt McCrory and Mikhayla Dempsey.
The soils teams evaluate and analyze soil for characteristics critical to production capabilities.
Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this CDE is one way FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage students in the learning process and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
