Halfway FFA soils team places second in state competition
COLUMBIA, Mo., April 22, 2022 – The Halfway FFA Chapter placed second in the soils career development event at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 46 teams in the competition.
The team members include Sloan Gallivan, Mayce Payne, Olivia Johnson and Cole Allen. Gallivan placed second, Payne placed 12th, Johnson placed 14th and Allen placed 36th out of 175 participants. The Halfway FFA advisor is Jeff Voris.
The soils teams evaluate and analyze soil for characteristics critical to production capabilities.
Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this CDE is one way FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage students in the learning process and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
