Cline of Tuscumbia FFA Chapter named Area 8 Star in Agriscience

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 22, 2021 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Kylie Cline of the Tuscumbia FFA Chapter as Area 8 Star in Agriscience at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. Her parents are Drew and Alisha Cline of Tuscumbia. Her advisor is Lily Grant.

 

Area Stars in Agriscience are selected based upon outstanding achievement in agriscience as part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 8 includes 25 chapters in the Central District.

 

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Agriscience awards and the State Star in Agriscience Award.

 

Cline’s supervised agricultural experience consists of food service.The goal of her research project is to produce a viable biodegradable film for food packaging to replace traditional petroleum films. Cline has produced films from protein and polysaccharide-based materials that were tested for tensile strength and transparency. She also works at a local restaurant.

 

Cline has served as chapter secretary. She competed in FFA creed speaking and FFA knowledge leadership development events. Cline competed in the Missouri State Agriscience Fair twice, was a national top three finalist, and won division five of the National FFA Food Products and Processing Agriscience category. She has attended State FFA Leadership Camp and National FFA Convention & Expo. 

 

After graduating high school, Cline’s plans include attending the University of Missouri-Columbia to study biochemistry on the pre-medical track. Cline said she hopes to further her education by becoming a physician. 

The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
