COLUMBIA, Mo., April 21, 2022 – Jaron Thebau of Mexico, Missouri, won the Missouri FFA Equine Management-Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. 

 

Thebau, a junior at Hart Career Center, is the son of Cody and Carrie Thebau. He is a member of the Mexico FFA Chapter. His advisors are Kendra Allen, Beth Hawkins, Austin McBride and Phoebe Frazer.

 

Thebau’s supervised agricultural experience program consisted of running a horse training business, Thebeau Training. His responsibilities include the daily upkeep of his clients’ horses, maintaining facilities, and training each horse. Thebau uses a benchmark system to communicate the progress of his training with the owners of the horses.

 

Thebau has participated in numerous chapter FFA events.

 

Thebau is a member of the Missouri High School Rodeo Association and the Mexico High School baseball and basketball teams.

 

After graduation, Thebau’s plans include attending a community or technical school. He hopes to continue training horses and growing his clientele. 

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Equine Science- Entrepreneurship Proficiency is one of 48 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Stephens College Equestrian Studies sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
