Prewitt receives Honorary State FFA Degree

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 22, 2022 – The Missouri FFA Association named Steven Prewitt, Mount Vernon, an Honorary State FFA Degree recipient at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. 

 

Prewitt is currently an agriculture instructor and FFA chapter advisor at Mount 

Vernon, where he has devoted 11 years to FFA members and helped begin Mountaineers Serve. Mountaineers Serve is a school-wide community service program where students and faculty members performed 1826 hours of service in one day this past year. Prewitt previously taught at Halfway High School and Willard High School. 

 

As an active FFA member from Cassville High School, Prewitt served as a chapter officer for several years. He also served as an Area 9 President for one year. Prewitt later received his State FFA Degree and American FFA Degree. Throughout his past 15 years as an FFA advisor, Prewitt has taught many American FFA Degree and State FFA Degree recipients and Area FFA and State FFA Officers. He has coached numerous state career and leadership development event teams as well as assisted many students to earn proficiency awards on the area, state, and national level.

 

The Missouri FFA Association recognizes Honorary State FFA Degree recipients for their valuable efforts and contributions to the FFA organization and its members. Those eligible to receive the Honorary FFA Degree include farmers, school superintendents, principals, members of the board of education, chapter advisors, teachers, staff members in agricultural education, business professionals and others who are helping to advance agricultural education and the FFA.

The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
