Bolivar FFA entomology team places second in state competition

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 22, 2022 – The Bolivar FFA Chapter placed second in the entomology career development event at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 48 teams in the competition.

The team members include Kaleb Krtek, Josie Toombs, Mary Warden and Emilia Lewright. Krtek placed third, Toombs placed 22nd, Warden placed 32nd and Lewright placed 39th out of 185 participants. The Bolivar FFA advisors are Jason King and Ashley Brown.

The entomology teams take a written exam on pesticide application and safety regulations as well as identify species of insects.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
