COLUMBIA, Mo., April 21, 2022 – The Missouri FFA Association awarded the Eldon FFA Chapter a Gold Emblem, a Top Chapter Award. Eldon placed fourth out of 353 chapters. Only 10 percent of state chapters receive a top chapter designation each year.

The National Chapter Award Program is designed to recognize FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. Chapters improve operations using the National Quality Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasize growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership. This award is sponsored by FCS Financial. The Eldon FFA advisors are Alex Stichnote, Jacob Blank, Nick Parks, and Justin Asher.

The Eldon FFA growing leaders activities included hosting the 2022 Ag Olympics. The chapter recruited new members through the week-long event, which promoted active and healthy lifestyles while allowing students to interact with advisors, officers and friends.

Chapter activities in the strengthening agriculture category included producing the Eldon FFA Magazine. The annual publication was created by agricultural communications and agribusiness students to promote the chapter’s success.

Building communities activities included facilitating a penny war. The class competition raised money for Beth Eudy, an Eldon High School teacher who is battling breast cancer.

The top chapters compete for the National FFA Chapter Award. Winners will be announced this fall at the 95th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.

The Missouri FFA has 25,626 members representing 353 chapters. The national organization has more than 735,000 members representing 8,817 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
