Storkson of Mount Vernon FFA Chapter named Area 11 Star in Placement
SEDALIA, Mo., May 1, 2021 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Benjamin Jasper Lee Storkson of the Mount Vernon FFA Chapter as the Area 11 Star in Placement at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are William and Cristi Storkson of Stotts City. His advisors are Jay Shepherd and Steven Prewitt.
Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 11 includes 16 chapters in the Southwest District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, Mo., sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.
Storkson’s SAE involves working at Country Roads Family Fun Farm, Stotts City; and helping friends and family members on their land. His duties at Country Roads Family Fun Farm included being a staff educator, feeding, mucking stalls and caring for the animals of the farm. He also has helped family members and friends with splitting wood, and constructing barns and sheds.
Storkson participated in soils, entomology, and agricultural mechanics career development events.
In addition to FFA, Storkson participates in football and is a member of SkillsUSA.
After graduating high school, Storkson’s plans include attending Missouri Welding Institute, Nevada. Storkson said he hopes to work at OGE Energy Cooperative and acquire his grandfather’s ranch.
The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
