Redman of Maysville FFA Chapter named Area 2 Star in Agriscience
SEDALIA, Mo., May 1, 2021 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Jacob William Redman of the Maysville FFA Chapter as Area 2 Star in Agriscience at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Josh and Amy Redman of Amity. His advisors are Brandi Ellis and Dennis Croy.
Area Stars in Agriscience are selected based upon outstanding achievement in agriscience as part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 2 includes 26 chapters in the Northwest District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Agriscience awards and the State Star in Agriscience Award.
Redman’s SAE program includes two poultry experiments. The first experiment involved 33 Golden Comet laying hen chicks, and the second experiment involved 20 Cornish Cross hen chicks. In both experiments, Redman fed three types of higher-protein level feed. He found the highest-protein level feed equaled more body mass. In addition, Redman works on the family farm.
Redman has attended State FFA Convention and State FFA Leadership Camp.
In addition to FFA, Redman participates in wrestling, football and track.
After graduating high school, Redman said he would like to take over the family farm.
The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
