SEDALIA, Mo., May 1, 2021 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Spencer Vossler of the Crest Ridge FFA Chapter as the State Star in Agriscience at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Jeff and Tiffany Vossler of Concordia. His advisor is Avery Deevers.

The State Star in Agriscience is selected based upon outstanding achievement in agriscience as part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the State Star in Agriscience Award.

Vossler’s SAE consists of bottle calf nutrition. He experimented whether Purnia LAND O LAKES Amplifier Max, Kent Milk Formula 1 or Earl Vet would be the best milk replacer based on nutritional value and price. In 30-and 60-day trials, he fed equal amounts of each milk replacers to the calves. He found that Kent Milk Formula 1 was the best milk replacer in nutritional value and price.

Vossler currently serves as chapter sentinel. He won the area agriscience research animal systems proficiency award.

After graduating high school, Vossler’s plans include attending University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, to study pre-veterinary science. Vossler said he plans to attend University of Missouri, Columbia, to study veterinary science.
