SEDALIA, Mo., May 1, 2021 — The Missouri FFA Association recognized Baylee Jeffries of the Jasper FFA Chapter as the Area 9 Star in Agribusiness at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. Her parents are Jared and Faith Jeffries of Jasper. Her advisors are Jared Jeffries and Laura Hensley.

Area Stars in Agribusiness are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 9 includes 16 chapters in the Southwest District.

Jeffries currently serves as chapter president, and previously served as chapter historian and secretary. She participated at state in horse evaluation and selection, entomology, and agronomy career development events. Jeffries won the area vegetable production proficiency award. Jeffries attended Washington Leadership Conference, State FFA Leadership Camp, National FFA Convention & Expo, and State FFA Convention.

In addition to FFA, Jeffries participated in basketball and volleyball, and served as the volleyball team captain.

After graduating high school, Jeffries’ plans include attending Crowder College, Neosho, to study agricultural business and agronomy. Jeffries said she hopes to stay local and have a crop science business management career.

The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
