SEDALIA, Mo., May 1, 2021 — The Missouri FFA Association recognized Landon Wright of the Audrain County R-VI FFA Chapter as the Area 5 Star in Agribusiness at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Clark and Stacy Wright of Martinsburg. His advisors are Stacy French and Britton Francis.

Area Stars in Agribusiness are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 5 includes 19 chapters in the Northeast District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Agribusiness awards as well as the State Star in Agribusiness Award.

Wright’s SAE consists of two businesses, Wright Brothers Pumpkins and Wright Mowing Services. For Wright Brothers Pumpkins, Wright and his brother grow, harvest, and sell 1.9 acres of pumpkins and specialty gourds. In 2019, he started Wright Mowing Services, and the services include power washing, mulching, edging, trimming and mowing.

Wright currently serves as chapter 2nd vice president. He participated at state in floriculture, agronomy, agricultural sales and grasslands career development events. He won the area specialty crop production proficiency award.

In addition to FFA, Wright is a member of the National Honor Society. He participates in scholar bowl and varsity baseball. Outside of school, Wright is a member of Boy Scouts of America and earned an Eagle Scout rank. He also is a member of First Baptist Church Youth Group, Mexico.

After graduating high school, Wright’s plans include attending Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas, to study mechanical engineering. Wright said he hopes to combine his passion for agriculture with engineering.

The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
