SEDALIA, Mo., May 1, 2021 — The Missouri FFA Association recognized Kenneth Isaac Burke of the Paris FFA Chapter as the Area 4 Star in Agribusiness. His parents are Kenneth and Kerry Burke of Paris. His advisors are Josh Bondy and Audrey Nobis.

Area Stars in Agribusiness are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 4 includes 22 chapters in the Northeast District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Agribusiness awards as well as the State Star in Agribusiness Award.

Burke’s SAE consists of a lawn mowing business. In the beginning, Burke’s father helped him move around from yard to yard. In his first year, Burke was able to purchase his own truck, trailer and lawn mower. He takes care of 15 yards in Paris and surrounding areas, and does landscaping and groundskeeping for businesses.

Burke served as chapter vice president. He participated in livestock evaluation, soils, agronomy and agricultural sales career development events. He won the area and placed second at state in the turf grass management proficiency award. He attended National FFA Convention & Expo, and State FFA Convention.

In addition to FFA, Burke is a member of pep club and participates on the trap team. He helps with homecoming floats and courtwarming decorations. Outside of school, he is a member of National Rifle Association.

After graduating high school, Burke’s plans include attending Pike-Lincoln Technical Center, Eolia, to become a certified lineman. Burke said he plans on working as a lineman and continuing his lawn care business.

The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
