Paris FFA poultry evaluation team wins state competition

SEDALIA, Mo., April 30, 2021 – The Paris FFA Chapter won the poultry evaluation career development event at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. There were 25 teams in the competition.

The team members include Chris Ebbesmeyer, Laken Edwards, Charlie Vitt and Sydney Price. Ebbesmeyer was named top individual in the state, Edwards placed third, Vitt placed eighth and Price placed 12th out of 89 participants. The Paris FFA advisors are Josh Bondy and Audrey Nobis.

The poultry teams evaluate, identify and present their findings on live production hens, ready-to-cook turkeys, processed poultry products, cartons of eggs and broiler parts. In addition, a multiple-choice test and a problem-solving section on poultry management and production are included in the scoring.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
