Archie FFA nursery/landscape team wins state competition

SEDALIA, Mo., April 30, 2021 – The Archie FFA Chapter won the nursery/landscape career development event at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. There were 26 teams in the competition.

The team members include Emma McIntire, Bayley Heider, Jillian Wray and Emma Thompson. McIntire was named top individual, Heider placed second, Wray placed fourth and Thompson placed 16th out of 95 participants. The Archie FFA advisor is Matt McIntire.

STIHL Outdoor Power Equipment awards scholarships to the top four individuals in the nursery/landscape CDE.

Individuals in this event are scored on their knowledge of production, marketing, utilization and culture of landscape plants. Students apply the information they learn in their horticulture and landscape design classes.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
