Cassville FFA food science and technology team places second in state competition
SEDALIA, Mo., April 30, 2021 – The Cassville FFA Chapter placed second in the food science and technology career development event at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. There were 17 teams in the competition.
The team members include Elizabeth Ray, Maci Barton, Hallie Fratus and Camron Sloan. Ray placed third, Barton placed fifth, Fratus placed eighth and Sloan placed 26th out of 62 participants. The Cassville FFA advisors are Jimmy Hinson and John Littlefield.
The Food Science and Technology Career Development Event (CDE) requires students to have an in-depth understanding of food product development, food presentation and food safety issues. Participants also use their sensory skills to solve problems and make sound decisions.
Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
