Savannah FFA dairy cattle evaluation and management team wins state competition

SEDALIA, Mo., April 30, 2021 – The Savannah FFA Chapter won the dairy cattle evaluation and management career development event at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. There were 25 teams in the competition.

The team members include Ella Fischer, Ali Wampler, Payton Rodgers and Reed Phillippe. Fischer was named top individual in the state, Wampler placed 18th, Rodgers placed 40th and Phillippe placed 45th out of 94 participants. The Savannah FFA advisors are Jessica Aeschliman and Jeff Baumann.

Individuals in this event are scored based on how well they apply dairy cattle evaluation skills learned in the classroom. Each team evaluates six classes of four dairy cattle and presents oral reasons on their evaluations.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this CDE is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
