Hermann FFA agricultural mechanics team wins state competition
SEDALIA, Mo., April 30, 2021 – The Hermann FFA Chapter won the ag mechanics career development event at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. There were 22 teams in the competition.
The team members include Matthew Lampkin, Lance Bader, Chantz Koelling and Brady Vedder. Lampkin was named top individual in the state, Bader and Koelling tied for fifth, and Vedder placed eighth out of 76 participants. The Hermann FFA advisors are Doug Ridder and Tracy Vedder.
The agricultural mechanics CDE consists of a written examination along with skill and problem-solving activities used to assess participants’ knowledge in the areas of agricultural machinery, small engine power, tractor power, agricultural electrification, woodwork and carpentry, concrete and plumbing, metal fabrication, soil and water management, and repair and maintenance.
Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. CDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
